2027 Toyota RAV4: Release Date, Price, Hybrid, Interior and Changes

The 2027 Toyota RAV4 is expected to carry over with few or no changes, because the RAV4 was fully redesigned for 2026. It stays hybrid-only, with a regular hybrid (226 to 236 hp) and a plug-in hybrid (324 hp, up to 52 miles of electric range). Toyota has not announced 2027 prices yet. The current RAV4 starts at about $33,495 with destination, and most experts expect the 2027 to start around $34,000. Expect it to reach dealers in late 2026 or early 2027.

Is the 2027 Toyota RAV4 Redesigned?

No. The big redesign happened for the 2026 model year, when Toyota introduced the sixth-generation RAV4. Automakers usually keep a new design for several years before a refresh. Edmunds, CarsDirect, and Autoblog all expect the 2027 RAV4 to carry over with no major changes.

The 2026 redesign was a big one. Toyota dropped the gas-only engine, made every RAV4 a hybrid or plug-in hybrid, raised power, and added new screens and a new software system. It also added two new trims: the rugged Woodland and the sporty GR Sport, which is the first GR-branded RAV4.

What Will the 2027 RAV4 Look Like?

It should look just like the 2026 RAV4. That means a squared-off, chunky shape inspired by Toyota’s trucks, a slim front grille, and different styling for each design group. The Core models look clean and simple. The Sport models, like the SE, XSE, and GR Sport, get sportier details and two-tone paint. The Woodland has a rugged look with off-road-style touches.

What Changes Are Expected for 2027?

Toyota has not announced any. In many carryover years, automakers make small updates such as new paint colors, small price changes, or moving a feature from optional to standard. We will update this guide when Toyota releases its 2027 details.

2027 Toyota RAV4 Release Date

Toyota has not given a 2027 RAV4 release date. Edmunds lists the expected release as fall 2026, and CarsDirect expects late 2026. Toyota often starts selling a new model year in the late fall or winter.

When can I order a 2027 Toyota RAV4? Dealers usually start taking orders or “allocations” shortly before the new model year arrives. Ask your local Toyota dealer to put you on their 2027 list. Many dealers can tell you their expected arrival timing.

Should I wait for the 2027 RAV4? Only if you want a specific color or feature that might change, or if you can’t find the 2026 you want. Because the 2027 is expected to be nearly the same, a 2026 in stock is often the faster way to get a new RAV4.

Why Is It Hard to Get a RAV4 Hybrid?

The RAV4 is one of the best-selling SUVs in America, and the new hybrid-only lineup means every buyer wants a hybrid. A brand-new generation also takes time to reach full production. Toyota added RAV4 Hybrid production at its plant in Georgetown, Kentucky, in mid-2026, which should help supply over time. In many areas, popular trims and colors still sell quickly.

2027 Toyota RAV4 Price

Toyota has not announced 2027 prices. Here are the 2026 RAV4 Hybrid launch prices, including the $1,450 destination charge, as reported by Kelley Blue Book:

2026 Hybrid TrimFWDAWD
LE$33,350$34,750
SE$36,150$37,550
XLE Premium$37,550$38,950
Woodland–$41,350
XSE–$42,750
Limited–$44,750

Prices have already crept up slightly since launch. CarsDirect now lists the RAV4 from $33,495 to $44,895 with destination.

How Much Will the 2027 RAV4 Cost?

Most estimates land near $34,000 to start. Edmunds and CarsDirect both estimate about $34,000, assuming a typical 1 to 2 percent yearly increase. Car and Driver also lists an estimated $34,000 starting price. These are estimates until Toyota publishes official pricing.

How Much Is a 2027 RAV4 Hybrid?

Since every regular RAV4 is now a hybrid, the RAV4 Hybrid price is the RAV4 price. Expect about $34,000 for a base LE FWD and about $45,000 for a Limited AWD, before any 2027 adjustments.

2026 RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid Prices

Kelley Blue Book reported these 2026 RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid prices, including destination:

2026 Plug-in Hybrid TrimPrice
SE$42,950
Woodland$46,750
XSE$48,650
GR Sport$49,950

CarsDirect now lists the plug-in from $43,095 and estimates about $44,000 for 2027.

Expected 2027 RAV4 Prices (Estimate)

Toyota has not released 2027 prices. The table below shows our expected 2027 prices. We added about 1.5 percent to each 2026 launch price, which matches the typical yearly increase that Edmunds and CarsDirect use in their estimates. Prices include the destination charge and are rounded. Treat these as estimates, not official Toyota prices.

Woodland Plug-in Hybrid–About $47,500
XSE Plug-in Hybrid–About $49,400

If Toyota keeps prices flat, as it sometimes does in carryover years, the real numbers could be closer to the 2026 prices above. We will replace these estimates with official prices as soon as Toyota announces them.

2027 Toyota RAV4 Trims Explained

The current RAV4 is grouped into three design styles: Core, Sport, and Rugged. Here is what each trim offers, based on the 2026 lineup.

LE

The LE is the base model. It comes with the hybrid powertrain, a standard 12.3-inch digital gauge display, a 10.5-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Toyota’s safety suite. It is a strong value for buyers who want great fuel economy without extras.

SE

The SE adds sportier styling and more features. It is also the entry point to the plug-in hybrid lineup.

XLE Premium

The XLE Premium focuses on comfort, with nicer seating materials and more convenience features than the LE and SE. It is a popular middle-ground choice for families.

Woodland

The Woodland is the rugged choice, available as a hybrid or plug-in hybrid. It has an outdoorsy look and all-terrain style equipment. Its fuel economy is a little lower than other trims because of its tires and setup.

XSE

The XSE is the sporty upscale trim, with two-tone styling and more tech. Car and Driver notes that XSE and GR Sport models get faux-suede seats with red stitching.

Limited

The Limited is the top luxury trim of the regular hybrid. It adds the most premium features in the hybrid lineup, and it is where you are most likely to find extras like the larger 12.9-inch touchscreen.

GR Sport (Plug-in Hybrid Only)

The GR Sport is the first RAV4 from Toyota’s Gazoo Racing performance brand. It is offered only as a plug-in hybrid, with 324 hp and sport-tuned styling and handling. Autoblog lists its 0-to-60 time at about 5.4 seconds, which is very quick for a compact SUV.

Is There a 2027 RAV4 TRD Pro?

No. The current RAV4 lineup does not include a TRD Pro or TRD Off-Road trim. The Woodland now fills the rugged, outdoorsy role. TRD Pro models are sold on Toyota trucks and SUVs like the Tacoma, Tundra, and 4Runner. Toyota has not announced a RAV4 TRD Pro.

Does Toyota make a RAV4 with a TRD engine? TRD is a trim and parts brand, not a separate engine. Past RAV4 TRD Off-Road models used the regular engine with off-road suspension and styling. The current RAV4 does not offer a TRD trim.

Hybrid vs Plug-in Hybrid: Which RAV4 Should You Buy?

DriveFWD standard, AWD availableAWD standard
Electric-only rangeVery short, low speeds onlyUp to 52 miles (Toyota estimate)
ChargingNot neededPlug in at home; DC fast charging available
Fuel economyUp to about 44 mpg combinedGas-only mode is lower; electric miles use no gas
Starting price (2026)About $33,495About $43,095

Hybrid vs plug-in hybrid, in plain words: A regular hybrid charges its own small battery while you drive and brake. You never plug it in. A plug-in hybrid has a much bigger battery that you charge from an outlet. It can drive many miles on electricity alone before the gas engine starts.

Choose the Hybrid if you can’t charge at home, you drive long distances often, or you want the lowest price.

Choose the Plug-in Hybrid if you can charge at home and your daily driving is under about 50 miles. Many owners could do most weekday driving on electricity alone. It also gives you much quicker acceleration.

Will the 2027 RAV4 be a plug-in hybrid? Both versions are expected to continue for 2027: the regular hybrid and the plug-in hybrid.

Does Toyota make a RAV4 Hybrid that is not a plug-in? Yes. The regular RAV4 Hybrid does not need to be plugged in. It is the standard RAV4.

Engine, Performance, and Fuel Economy

The regular RAV4 uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with electric motors. Front-wheel-drive models make 226 hp. All-wheel-drive models add a rear electric motor and make 236 hp, up from 219 hp on the 2025 RAV4 Hybrid. Autoblog lists 0 to 60 mph in about 7.0 to 7.5 seconds.

Version (2026, Toyota estimates)Combined mpg
Hybrid FWD and AWD (most trims)About 44
XSE and Limited AWDAbout 42
WoodlandAbout 39

Edmunds tested a front-wheel-drive RAV4 and matched Toyota’s 44 mpg combined estimate in its own testing. EPA ratings for the 2027 model have not been posted yet.

What that means in dollars: At 12,000 miles a year and $3.25 per gallon, a RAV4 at 44 mpg uses about 273 gallons, or roughly $890 a year in fuel. An older gas-only compact SUV at 30 mpg would use about $1,300. That is roughly $400 saved every year.

Expected 2027 RAV4 Specs

Because the 2027 RAV4 is expected to carry over, these are the expected 2027 specs, based on the 2026 model. Toyota has not confirmed 2027 numbers.

Interior and Technology

The current RAV4 cabin is a big step up from the old model. Every RAV4 has a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. A 10.5-inch touchscreen is standard, and a 12.9-inch screen is available. Both run Toyota’s newer software, called “Arena,” with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Toyota also kept physical climate controls, which many owners like because they are easy to use while driving. Higher trims add features like heated and ventilated front seats, a power liftgate, and a panoramic roof. Available tech includes a head-up display, a 360-degree camera, and premium JBL audio.

Edmunds says the cabin layout feels more like a 4Runner than a Grand Highlander, with a rugged, practical design. Car and Driver lists a “plasticky interior” as one drawback, so check the materials in person if that matters to you.

Safety Features

Every RAV4 includes Toyota’s latest safety suite, with features such as automatic emergency braking and adaptive cruise control. These systems can help you slow down or stop to avoid a crash and keep a set distance from the car ahead on the highway. Crash test ratings for the 2027 model have not been posted. Check NHTSA.gov and IIHS.org for current results.

Cargo Space, Towing, and Dimensions

Spec (2026 RAV4)Figure
Overall length181.0 in
Wheelbase105.9 in
Ground clearance8.1 in (Limited)
Max towing3,500 lbs
Fuel tank14.5 gallons

Figures from Kelley Blue Book’s 2026 RAV4 Limited specs.

A 3,500-pound towing rating is enough for a small camper, a pair of jet skis, or a small boat. For heavier trailers, look at a larger SUV like the 2027 Toyota Highlander.

At about 181 inches long, the RAV4 fits easily in most garages and city parking spots. The cargo area is roomy for a compact SUV, and Edmunds lists a roomy cargo area as a strength.

2027 Toyota RAV4 Colors

Toyota has not released the 2027 color list. Current RAV4 colors shown in reviews and Toyota materials include:

  • Storm Cloud
  • Urban Rock
  • Meteor Shower
  • Ruby Flare Pearl
  • Supersonic Red with a Midnight Black roof (two-tone)
  • Wind Chill Pearl with a Midnight Black roof (two-tone)
  • Midnight Black Metallic
  • Ice Cap

Some colors are limited to certain design groups, and two-tone roofs are common on Sport trims. Toyota sometimes adds or swaps a color for a new model year. We will update this list when Toyota publishes the 2027 lineup.

Expected 2027 RAV4 Colors

We expect the 2027 RAV4 to keep most or all of the current colors listed above, such as Storm Cloud, Urban Rock, Meteor Shower, and Ruby Flare Pearl, plus the two-tone options with a Midnight Black roof. Toyota may add one new color or drop one, as it often does in a carryover year. This is an expectation until Toyota publishes the official 2027 color list.

Should I buy a 2026 RAV4 or wait for 2027? For most buyers, buy the 2026 if you find the trim and color you want at a fair price. The 2027 is expected to be nearly identical, likely at a slightly higher price. Waiting makes sense only if your preferred configuration is unavailable. 2027 RAV4 vs Rivals

  • Honda CR-V: The RAV4’s biggest rival, also available as a hybrid. See our 2027 Honda CR-V guide.
  • Hyundai Tucson: Offers hybrid and plug-in versions with lots of tech for the money. Read about the 2027 Hyundai Tucson.
  • Ford Escape and Mazda CX-50: Other popular compact SUVs, with hybrid options on some models.

The RAV4’s main advantages are its standard hybrid powertrain, strong fuel economy, and Toyota’s reputation for reliability and resale value. Its main weaknesses, according to reviewers, are interior materials and ordinary handling on the regular hybrid.

Ownership Costs, Insurance, and Warranty

  • Fuel: One of the lowest fuel bills in its class, as shown above.
  • Charging: Plug-in owners pay for home electricity instead of some gas. Rates vary by state.
  • Insurance: Rates depend on your age, record, ZIP code, coverage, and trim. Before you buy, you can estimate your car insurance costs with our free calculator. It needs no personal details and gives a rough number, not a quote.

Toyota’s standard warranty includes 3 years or 36,000 miles of basic coverage and 5 years or 60,000 miles of powertrain coverage. Hybrid parts get longer coverage, which you should confirm with your dealer for the exact terms. Toyota also includes ToyotaCare scheduled maintenance for a limited time on new vehicles.

Which 2027 RAV4 Is Right for You?

  • Best value: LE Hybrid FWD.
  • Snowy climate on a budget: LE or SE Hybrid AWD.
  • Family comfort: XLE Premium.
  • Outdoor weekends: Woodland.
  • Style and tech: XSE.
  • Most luxury: Limited.
  • Short commutes with home charging: Plug-in Hybrid SE.
  • Performance: GR Sport Plug-in Hybrid.

Things to Check Before You Buy

  1. Decide hybrid or plug-in. If you can’t charge at home, the regular hybrid is simpler and cheaper.
  2. Pick FWD or AWD. AWD helps in snow and adds a little power.
  3. Compare dealer prices. Ask for a written out-the-door price. Some dealers add markups on popular SUVs.
  4. Ask about allocation. Popular trims can take time to arrive. Ask where you are on the dealer’s list.
  5. Test the screens. Make sure you are comfortable with the touchscreen and software.
  6. Check recalls. Before buying any car, look up the VIN at NHTSA.gov.
