2027 Chevy Tahoe: Price, Trim Changes, Colors and What’s New

The 2027 Chevy Tahoe costs $63,995 to $86,995 including the $2,795 destination charge, and it’s already in production at GM’s Arlington, Texas plant. It isn’t a redesign. The body, interior and engines carry over from the 2025 refresh, but Chevy has reshuffled the trims, added a new White Sands paint color, made more features standard on the RST, and brought back the 433-hp RST Performance Edition.

If you’re deciding between a 2026 and a 2027 Tahoe, or trying to work out which trim and options are worth the money, this guide covers every change, real prices, colors, engines and our honest picks.

What’s new for the 2027 Tahoe

The changes are small individually, but together they change which trim makes the most sense:

  • New color: White Sands, a light beige, replaces Cypress Gray on the RST and Z71.
  • Better-equipped RST: heated and ventilated front seats and 4-way power lumbar are now standard.
  • RST Performance Edition returns: a 6.2-liter V8 tuned to 433 hp and 467 lb-ft, with Brembo front brakes.
  • Super Cruise with the diesel: the Advanced Technology Package, which brings Super Cruise, can now be paired with the 3.0-liter Duramax on the LT and RST.
  • High Country is 4WD only: the two-wheel-drive High Country is gone, which is part of why its starting price jumped $3,500.
  • New Adventure Packages: two dealer-fitted roof setups, one with a basket and one with a cargo box.
  • Z71 wheel option: new 20-inch gloss-black wheels.
  • Dropped: the LS Custom Edition, Cypress Gray paint, chrome center caps and a few dealer accessories.

Prices rise $500 on most trims. The bigger jump on the High Country reflects the move to standard four-wheel drive.

2027 Chevy Tahoe price for every trim

TrimMSRPWith $2,795 destination
LS$61,200$63,995
LT$64,200$66,995
RST$69,600$72,395
Z71$71,200$73,995
Premier$76,100$78,895
High Country$84,200$86,995
RST Performance EditionOver $75,000Over $77,795

These are starting prices with the standard engine. Four-wheel drive is extra on most trims, and the 6.2-liter V8, the Duramax diesel, Super Cruise and the bigger option packages can add thousands more.

What most buyers actually pay

Very few Tahoes leave the lot at the base price. Here’s a realistic picture of what people end up spending:

  • Family hauler: an LT with four-wheel drive and a couple of packages usually lands in the low $70,000s.
  • Sporty or off-road look: an RST or Z71 with a few options typically comes in between $75,000 and $82,000.
  • Luxury spec: a Premier or High Country with the 6.2-liter V8, the Sun and Tow Package and Super Cruise can pass $90,000.

Add sales tax, registration and any dealer fees on top. Because the Tahoe is popular, some dealers add market adjustments or pre-installed accessories, so always ask for the full out-the-door price in writing.

Trim-by-trim changes for 2027

LS ($63,995)

The LS is the entry Tahoe and the only one that can seat nine with a front bench. The LS Custom Edition, with its 22-inch wheels, has been dropped, so the LS is now a straightforward, no-frills choice. It’s popular with large families and fleets that care more about space than leather.

LT ($66,995)

The LT is where the Tahoe starts to feel nicer inside, with leather-appointed seats and more convenience features. The big news for 2027 is that you can now order the Advanced Technology Package, including Super Cruise hands-free driving, together with the Duramax diesel. That makes a diesel LT with Super Cruise a strong road-trip machine.

RST ($72,395)

The RST gets the most useful upgrades this year. Heated and ventilated front seats and power lumbar support used to be optional and are now standard. The RST Capability Package now includes the Max Trailering Package, and black mirror caps can be ordered on their own instead of as part of a bigger package. Chrome running-board accents are gone, so all RSTs get black assist steps.

RST Performance Edition (from about $77,800)

This is the fastest Tahoe. It uses the 6.2-liter V8 with Chevrolet Performance intake and exhaust parts, which raise output to 433 hp and 467 lb-ft. It also gets Brembo front brakes. It’s aimed at buyers who want a muscle-car feel in a full-size SUV, and it still tows up to 8,200 pounds.

Z71 ($73,995)

The Z71 is the off-road Tahoe, with a factory lift, Rancho shocks, a two-speed transfer case, hill descent control, an aluminum skid plate, red recovery hooks and 20-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory tires. For 2027 the rear-seat screens are no longer part of the Z71 Off-Road Package and are a separate option, black mirror caps are now available, and new 20-inch gloss-black wheels join the list.

Premier ($78,895)

The Premier is the comfort-focused trim, with massaging front seats and a camera rear-view mirror. For 2027 the Max Trailering Package and Enhanced Trailer View now come with the Sun and Tow Package, and the Dark Essentials Package becomes available for a blacked-out look. Note that the 6.2-liter V8 and the diesel now require the Sun and Tow Package on the Premier, which raises the real cost of those engines.

High Country ($86,995)

The High Country is the luxury flagship and gets the 6.2-liter V8 as standard. It’s now four-wheel drive only. The High Country Deluxe Package includes Super Cruise no matter which engine you choose, and Super Cruise can now be paired with either second-row bucket seats or a bench.

2027 Chevy Tahoe colors

There are eight exterior colors for 2027, but not every trim gets every color. Two cost extra.

What changed with the paint

Cypress Gray, a muted green-gray that was popular on the Z71, is gone after 2026. White Sands is its indirect replacement. It’s a soft beige that suits the Z71’s outdoor look and hides dust better than bright white or black, which matters if you drive on gravel roads.

A few tips if you’re choosing a color: black looks great clean but shows swirl marks and dust quickly on a vehicle this big. Sterling Gray and Dark Ash are the easiest to live with. If you want white on a Premier or High Country, you’ll have to pay for Polar White Tricoat, because plain Summit White isn’t offered on those trims.

Wheels and packages worth knowing about

  • Adventure Package 1 and 2: dealer-installed roof systems, one with an open basket and one with a closed cargo box. Handy for camping gear, but they add height, so check your garage clearance.
  • 20-inch gloss-black wheels: new for the Z71. They look sharp, but the Z71’s standard all-terrain tires are the better choice for real dirt roads.
  • Dark Essentials Package: now available on the Premier and High Country for a blacked-out look.
  • Max Trailering Package: now bundled with the RST Capability Package and with the Sun and Tow Package on Premier and High Country. If you tow, it’s the one package you shouldn’t skip.
  • Advanced Technology Package: brings Super Cruise and more driver aids, and is now available with the diesel on LT and RST.

Engines, towing and fuel economy

Every 2027 Tahoe uses a 10-speed automatic. The engine lineup carries over:

EnginePowerTorqueWhere you get it
5.3L V8355 hp383 lb-ftStandard on all trims except High Country
6.2L V8420 hp460 lb-ftStandard on High Country; optional on RST, Z71, Premier
6.2L V8 (RST Performance)433 hp467 lb-ftRST Performance Edition
3.0L Duramax turbo-diesel305 hp495 lb-ftOptional on most trims

Towing: the Tahoe can tow up to 8,400 pounds with the 5.3-liter V8, rear-wheel drive and the Max Trailering Package. The diesel and the RST Performance Edition are rated up to 8,200 pounds. Four-wheel drive and heavier trims lower the number, so check the sticker on the exact vehicle you’re buying.

Fuel economy: the diesel is the clear winner, rated at an estimated 22 mpg city, 26 highway and 24 combined with rear-wheel drive, with a highway range of more than 600 miles per tank. The gas V8s are much thirstier and typically average in the mid-to-high teens in real driving. The 6.2-liter also needs premium fuel, while the 5.3-liter runs on regular.

Which engine should you pick?

  • 5.3L V8: fine for most families, cheapest to buy, and runs on regular gas.
  • Duramax diesel: best for long highway trips and towing, thanks to its torque and range. Diesel costs more per gallon in many states, so do the math for your area.
  • 6.2L V8: for buyers who want the most power and the best V8 sound. Budget for premium fuel.

There is no hybrid or plug-in Tahoe for 2027.

Interior, space and tech

Inside, the 2027 Tahoe keeps the big 17.7-inch touchscreen added in the 2025 refresh, along with a digital gauge cluster. Depending on the trim, it seats seven, eight or nine people.

Cargo spaceCubic feet
Behind the third row25.5
Behind the second row72.5
Behind the first row122.7

Thanks to its independent rear suspension, the Tahoe’s third row is usable for adults, which isn’t true of many three-row SUVs. If you regularly carry seven adults or tow with a full load of luggage, the longer Suburban gives you even more room behind the third row.

Every Tahoe gets automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, forward collision alert, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, a following distance indicator and IntelliBeam automatic high beams. Blind zone alert, rear cross traffic alert and rear park assist are available on higher trims. OnStar Basics is included for eight years.

Living with a Tahoe: size, parking and garages

The Tahoe is about 211 inches long, or roughly 17.5 feet, and the Suburban is about 15 inches longer. That matters more in daily life than most buyers expect.

  • Garage fit: many older garages are 18 to 20 feet deep. Measure yours, and leave room to walk around the front of the SUV with the door closed.
  • Height: roof rails, the new Adventure Package baskets and boxes, and lifted aftermarket versions can make low parking garages a problem. Check the clearance signs at your work or airport parking.
  • Parking: available features like Surround Vision cameras and rear park assist are worth having on a vehicle this big, especially if several family members will drive it.
  • Turning: it’s a full-size SUV, so tight U-turns and narrow drive-throughs take some planning. Most owners adjust within a couple of weeks.

If your garage is tight, the Tahoe is the better choice than the Suburban. If you park outside and need more cargo room, the Suburban makes more sense.

Towing with a Tahoe: what 8,400 pounds really means

The headline towing number is the best case, measured on a specific configuration. In real life, a few things reduce what you can safely tow:

  • Your configuration: four-wheel drive, bigger wheels and higher trims weigh more, which lowers the rating. The exact number for any Tahoe is on the door-jamb sticker and in the trailering guide.
  • Payload: passengers, luggage and the trailer’s tongue weight all count against the SUV’s payload. A family of five plus gear can use up a big chunk of it.
  • Tongue weight: plan on 10% to 15% of the trailer’s loaded weight pressing down on the hitch.
  • Loaded trailer weight: a camper’s brochure weight is usually empty. Water, propane, food and gear can add 1,000 pounds or more.

A common rule of thumb is to keep a loaded trailer at around 80% of the rated towing capacity for comfortable, stable towing. For most Tahoes, that means a trailer of up to 6,500 to 7,000 pounds loaded will feel relaxed. Get the Max Trailering Package, which adds hardware that makes towing easier and safer, and consider the diesel if you tow often or over long distances.

Running costs: fuel, insurance and upkeep

A Tahoe costs more to run than a midsize SUV, and fuel is the biggest part. Here’s a simple example for someone who drives 15,000 miles a year:

EngineAssumed average mpgGallons per yearYearly fuel cost
5.3L V8 (regular gas at $3.50)17About 880About $3,090
Duramax diesel ($3.90 per gallon)24About 625About $2,440

Your numbers will differ with gas prices, driving style and four-wheel drive, but the diesel can save several hundred dollars a year for high-mileage drivers. The 6.2-liter V8 costs more than both because it needs premium fuel.

Insurance on a Tahoe is usually higher than on a midsize SUV because it costs more to repair and replace. Your age, ZIP code and driving record matter more than the trim, so get a quote before you buy. Maintenance is straightforward. Tires are the big-ticket item, and 22-inch tires cost noticeably more than 18- or 20-inch ones, which is worth remembering when you pick wheels.

2026 vs 2027 Chevy Tahoe: which should you buy?

Because the 2027 is a light update, a 2026 Tahoe is still an excellent buy, especially if dealers are discounting leftover stock.

2026 Tahoe2027 Tahoe

White Sands paintNoYes (RST, Z71)
Cypress Gray paintYesNo

EnginesSameSame

Buy a 2027 if you want an RST (the standard seat upgrades are worth more than the $500 price rise), you want Super Cruise with the diesel, or you like White Sands.

Buy a discounted 2026 if you want an LS, LT, Premier or High Country and can get a good deal. The differences on those trims are small, and a 2026 High Country with two-wheel drive is cheaper if you don’t need four-wheel drive.

Tahoe vs Suburban vs Yukon and other rivals

  • Chevy Suburban: the same SUV stretched for more cargo space behind the third row. Every 2027 Suburban trim costs $3,000 more than the matching Tahoe. Choose it if you carry seven people and their luggage often.
  • GMC Yukon: the Tahoe’s twin with different styling and a more upscale feel, especially in Denali form. It usually costs more trim for trim.
  • Ford Expedition: uses a twin-turbo V6 instead of a V8 and offers strong towing. A good choice if you don’t care about V8 sound.
  • Toyota Sequoia: a hybrid powertrain and Toyota’s reliability reputation, but less cargo space behind the third row than the Tahoe.

If you want a V8 and the most usable third row in this class, the Tahoe is still one of the best picks.

2027 Tahoe release date and where it’s built

  • Production start: reported as September 8, 2026.
  • Build and price tool: went live on Chevrolet’s website around September 18, 2026.
  • At dealers: 2027 models are arriving now, in fall 2026.
  • Factory: every fifth-generation Tahoe is built at GM’s Arlington Assembly plant in Texas.

If you want a specific color and option mix, ordering from the factory is the surest way to get it. Popular combinations like a Z71 in White Sands may take longer to find on dealer lots in the first few months.

Is there a ZR2, hybrid or 2-door Tahoe?

A lot of rumors and fan renderings circulate online, so here are the facts:

  • ZR2: there is no Tahoe ZR2 for 2027. The Z71 is the off-road trim.
  • Hybrid: no hybrid or plug-in hybrid is offered. The diesel is the most efficient Tahoe.
  • 2-door: Chevy hasn’t made a two-door Tahoe since the 1990s, and there is no 2027 two-door model. Images online are renderings.
  • Police version: the Tahoe Police Pursuit Vehicle (PPV) is sold to law enforcement fleets only.
  • “Black Widow” and other lifted editions: these are aftermarket packages added by outside companies and sold through some dealers, not official Chevy trims. They can add a lot to the price, and they may affect your warranty and insurance, so read the fine print.

Leasing a 2027 Tahoe and resale value

Many Tahoes are leased, especially upper trims. Chevrolet regularly runs lease offers that change every month and vary by region. Because the Tahoe has historically held its value well compared with many full-size SUVs, lease payments can be reasonable for the price of the vehicle.

If you plan to buy and keep it, trims with four-wheel drive, the popular 5.3-liter or diesel engines and neutral colors like Sterling Gray, Black and white tend to be the easiest to sell later. Bright colors and very expensive options rarely return their full cost at trade-in time.

Which 2027 Tahoe we’d buy

Best value: LT with 4WD

The LT gives you leather, the big screen and the full Tahoe space without the price of the upper trims. Add four-wheel drive if you get snow, and the Duramax if you drive long highway distances.

Best all-rounder: RST

With heated and ventilated seats and power lumbar now standard, the RST is the trim that improved most for 2027. It looks sporty, feels well equipped and costs well under the Premier.

Best for adventure: Z71 in White Sands

If you camp, drive gravel roads or launch boats on sandy ramps, the Z71’s lift, skid plate and all-terrain tires earn their keep. White Sands suits it perfectly and hides dust.

Best for luxury: High Country Deluxe

If budget isn’t a worry, the High Country with the Deluxe Package gives you the 6.2-liter V8, four-wheel drive and Super Cruise as standard, so you don’t have to hunt through option lists.

Tips for buying a 2027 Tahoe

  • Use Chevrolet’s build and price tool first. Choose your trim, engine, drivetrain and packages, then save the summary and send it to two or three dealers for written out-the-door quotes.
  • Watch the package rules. On the Premier, the 6.2-liter V8 and the diesel now require the Sun and Tow Package. That changes the real cost of those engines.
  • Ask about 2026 leftovers. Discounted 2026 models can be a great deal because so little has changed.
  • Decline add-ons you didn’t ask for. Paint protection, nitrogen tires and market adjustments can add thousands.
  • Check insurance before you sign. Full-size SUVs with V8s can cost more to insure. Our car insurance calculator gives you a quick estimate without asking for personal details, and our list of the cheapest SUVs to insure shows how the Tahoe compares.

What to check on a test drive

  • Sit in the third row yourself and check how easily the second row folds or slides.
  • Fit your car seats in the rows you’ll actually use.
  • Drive on the highway and a rough road to compare the standard suspension with the available air suspension if you can.
  • Try both the 5.3-liter and the diesel if the dealer has them. The diesel’s low-end pull feels very different.
  • Back into a parking space using the cameras to see how you feel about the size.
  • If you tow, ask the dealer to show you the trailering app and camera views.

Our take on the 2027 Chevy Tahoe

What we like

  • A real, adult-friendly third row and lots of cargo space
  • A choice of two V8s or an efficient, torquey diesel
  • Up to 8,400 pounds of towing
  • The RST is now much better equipped for only $500 more
  • Super Cruise is now available with the diesel

What we don’t

  • Prices climb past $90,000 quickly on top trims
  • The gas V8s use a lot of fuel
  • Package rules make some engine choices expensive
  • No hybrid option, unlike the Sequoia
  • White Sands paint is limited to two trims

The 2027 Tahoe isn’t a big leap, but it’s a smarter lineup. If you’ve been waiting for the RST to get proper comfort features or want Super Cruise with the diesel, the 2027 is the one to buy. If not, a discounted 2026 gives you almost the same SUV for less.
