2027 Mazda CX-5 Price Announced: Base Model Stays Under $30,000

Mazda has announced pricing for the 2027 Mazda CX-5, and the good news for shoppers is that the entry price has not moved. The base 2.5 S still starts at $29,990 (MSRP, before destination), the same as the 2026 model.

2027 Mazda CX-5 price changes

While the base trim holds steady, the rest of the lineup gets small increases, according to Mazda:

TrimMSRPWith $1,595 destinationChange vs 2026
2.5 S$29,990$31,585No change
2.5 S Select$32,140$33,735+$150
2.5 S Preferred$34,550$36,145+$300
2.5 S Premium$37,450$39,045+$550
2.5 S Premium Plus$39,440$41,035+$550

The destination charge is $1,595, so the cheapest 2027 CX-5 costs $31,585 before taxes and dealer fees.

What is new for 2027

The biggest change is technology. Google built-in is now standard, which brings Google Maps and the Gemini AI voice assistant into the infotainment system across the range. That gives buyers built-in navigation and voice control without relying on a phone connection.

Same engine for now

The 2027 CX-5 continues with the 187-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. Mazda says more powertrain options will be announced in 2027, so buyers hoping for a hybrid or turbo version may want to wait for that announcement.

How the CX-5 price compares with rivals

At $29,990, the CX-5 remains one of the cheaper ways into a compact SUV, and every version comes with all-wheel drive as standard. Here is how its starting price compares with key rivals (MSRP, before destination):

ModelStarting MSRPNotes
2027 Mazda CX-5$29,990AWD standard, 187-hp 2.5L
2027 Kia Sportage$28,990Gas LX
Hyundai Tucson$29,700Gas SE, current model
2027 Honda CR-V$31,520Gas LX
2026 Toyota RAV4$31,900Hybrid-only lineup

The Sportage and Tucson start slightly lower, but the CX-5 includes all-wheel drive at its base price. The CR-V and RAV4 cost around $1,500 to $1,900 more to start. For more compact SUV options, see our 2027 Chevy Equinox, 2027 Ford Escape and Kia Sportage price guides.

Which 2027 CX-5 trim should you buy?

2.5 S ($29,990): best for tight budgets

The cheapest way in, and it now gets Google built-in like every other trim. A good choice if you mainly want reliable, comfortable transport.

2.5 S Select ($32,140): best value

Only $2,150 more than the base model. For most buyers this is the sweet spot between price and features.

2.5 S Preferred ($34,550): best for families

Steps up to 19-inch wheels and more comfort features for daily family use without reaching premium-trim prices.

2.5 S Premium and Premium Plus ($37,450 to $39,440): best for features

These top trims add luxury items such as leather seats and a power liftgate, and they get the biggest price increases for 2027 ($550 each). Compare them with a discounted 2026 model before you buy.

Should you buy now or wait?

If you want the lowest price, the base 2.5 S is unchanged, so there is no penalty for buying a 2027 over a leftover 2026. If you were planning a higher trim, a discounted 2026 model could save you a few hundred dollars, as long as you do not need the new Google features.

We will update this article when Mazda announces the new powertrain options.
