2027 Honda CRF450R: Price, Horsepower, Weight and Works Edition

The 2027 Honda CRF450R is an all-new motocross bike, not a light update. Honda calls it the most comprehensive change to the CRF450R in more than a decade: a new engine with about 10% more power (Honda claims more than 60 hp), a 70% new frame, new suspension settings, a new slipper-style clutch and about 10 pounds less weight (238 lb wet). US pricing starts at $10,099, and the CRF450R HRC Works Edition costs $12,999. The standard bike reached US dealers in July 2026, and the Works Edition follows in October 2026.

What’s new on the 2027 CRF450R

New engine

  • Bore increased 1mm to 97mm, with a shorter 60.8mm stroke
  • Compression raised from 13.5:1 to 13.75:1
  • Bigger titanium valves: 40mm intake and 32mm exhaust (up from 38mm and 31mm)
  • New round-profile crankshaft, revised piston with a DLC-coated top ring
  • Shorter, steeper intake port and a redesigned airbox with 10% less airflow resistance
  • The engine is about 6 lb lighter and 17mm narrower

Honda says peak power is up 10.3% and torque up 3.7% compared with the 2026 model.

New clutch and gearbox

The clutch is 7mm smaller and lighter, and it now has a rubber-damper back-torque limiter, which Honda calls a world first. It works like a slipper clutch, reducing rear-wheel chatter when you shut the throttle into corners. All five gear ratios are taller, and the final drive goes up to a 51-tooth sprocket. Riders report less shifting, with second gear covering more of the track.

New frame and swingarm

The aluminum frame is about 70% new and roughly 10% stiffer at the front, with no weight gain. The swingarm is new and lighter. Geometry changes slightly: the wheelbase grows to 58.7 inches (1,490mm), rake is 27.5°, and the footpegs sit 5mm further back.

Suspension

The 49mm Showa fork gets a new Dynamic Blow System valve for better low-speed damping, stiffer 5.2 N/mm springs and Kashima-coated parts. The Showa rear shock is lighter and uses a new Pro-Link ratio.

Electronics

  • HRC Launch Control with three modes
  • Honda Selectable Torque Control (traction control) with three levels
  • Engine Mode Select with Standard, Smooth and Aggressive maps

2027 Honda CRF450R horsepower and torque

Honda does not publish an exact figure, but it claims the new engine makes more than 60 hp, about 10% more than the 2026 bike. Torque is up about 3.7%. Independent dyno results vary by test and conditions, so treat any single number online as an estimate. In real riding, testers describe the power as smooth and linear, easy to use rather than explosive.

2027 Honda CRF450R weight

Honda lists a wet weight of about 238 lb (108 kg) with a full tank, and about 226 lb without fuel. That is about 10 lb (4 kg) lighter than the 2026 CRF450R, even though the fuel tank grew from 1.7 to 1.9 gallons.

2027 Honda CRF450R top speed

Honda does not publish a top speed for motocross bikes, because it depends on gearing, rider weight and conditions. With stock gearing, a modern 450 motocross bike typically tops out somewhere around 85 to 90 mph. Changing the sprockets changes this a lot.

2027 Honda CRF450R HRC Works Edition

The HRC Works Edition replaces the old CRF450RWE for 2027. For $12,999, it adds:

  • Yoshimura exhaust with a titanium head pipe
  • Twin Air air filter
  • Hand-finished cylinder-head ports, done at Honda’s Kumamoto factory in Japan
  • Unique ECU mapping, ignition timing and suspension settings
  • Black D.I.D rims, gold D.I.D chain and black triple clamps
  • Renthal grips, a gripper seat cover and a red cylinder-head cover with an HRC Works Edition stamp

Honda says the Works Edition makes noticeably more power than the standard bike, but it has not given a figure. Some buyers search for a “factory edition”, but the Works Edition is Honda’s factory-style model for 2027.

2027 Honda CRF450R release date and Japan launch

Honda revealed the 2027 CRF450R in late May 2026 with a global launch, which is why searches for “2027 CRF450R Japan” spiked at the same time. In the US, the standard CRF450R arrived in July 2026, and the HRC Works Edition is due in October 2026.

2027 Honda CRF450R review: first ride impressions

Early test riders agree that the new bike is easier to ride fast:

  • Pros: smooth and linear power, taller gearing with less shifting, a stable chassis, plush suspension in whoops, a better slipper-style clutch and a wider cockpit for taller riders.
  • Cons: a $400 price rise, slightly heavier-feeling turn-in than the 2026, no smartphone tuning app, and the standard skid plate is gone.

2027 CRF450R for sale: buying tips

1. Ask about the 2026 leftovers. If you want the lightest price, a discounted 2026 is cheaper, but the 2027 is a big step forward.

2. Check setup fees. Dealer prep and destination can add several hundred dollars to the MSRP.

3. Standard or Works Edition? The standard bike is the better value for most riders. The Works Edition makes sense for racers who want the extra power and parts from the factory.

4. Consider the RX if you ride cross-country or off-road events. It adds an 18-inch rear wheel, a larger tank and a kickstand.
