The 2027 Jeep Wrangler isn’t redesigned, but it’s one of the busiest years the Wrangler has had. Jeep is launching a new special edition every month under its “Twelve 4 Twelve” program, including the retro Laredo, the military-inspired Sarge, the Smoky Mountain and the JL-2A. The 4xe plug-in hybrid is gone, so the engine lineup is now the 270 hp 2.0L turbo, the 285 hp 3.6L V6 and the 470 hp 6.4L V8 in the 392 models. Prices start around $39,640 for a four-door Sport and climb to about $79,995 for the Moab 392, before the $1,995 destination charge.

Below we answer every common question about the 2027 Wrangler: what changed, all the special editions, engines, the manual transmission, trims and prices, colors, the interior, two-door vs four-door, and the release date.
Is the 2027 Jeep Wrangler redesigned?
No. The 2027 Wrangler is still the JL generation, which launched for 2018 and got a refresh for 2024 with a 12.3-inch touchscreen and a new grille. A full redesign isn’t expected until later in the decade. Instead of a redesign, Jeep is keeping the Wrangler fresh with special editions and package updates.
2027 Jeep Wrangler changes and updates
Here’s what’s new for 2027:
- 4xe plug-in hybrid dropped: Stellantis ended its plug-in hybrids in North America, so there’s no 2027 Wrangler 4xe.
- Twelve 4 Twelve editions: one new limited edition a month, including the Laredo, Sarge, Smoky Mountain and JL-2A.
- New Rewind and California Edition models join the four-door lineup.
- Pricing adjustments across the lineup, with some trims cheaper than before.
- Carryover: body, chassis, interior design, 12.3-inch screen and the 392 V8.
What’s new for the 2027 Jeep Wrangler vs 2026?
The biggest difference is the loss of the 4xe. If you wanted a plug-in Wrangler, you’d need a leftover 2026 or a used one. Everything else is about trims and special editions. Mechanically, a 2027 Rubicon is almost the same as a 2026 Rubicon.
2027 Jeep Wrangler special editions
2027 Jeep Wrangler Laredo
The Laredo name comes back from the 1980s. The 2027 Wrangler Laredo is built on the Willys and includes the Xtreme 35 package (35-inch BFGoodrich KO2 tires and a 1-inch lift), plus a Bison Brown Nappa leather interior and retro Laredo graphics. Jeep priced it at $1,995 over a Willys with the Xtreme 35 package. Orders opened in late July 2026.
2027 Jeep Wrangler Laredo price: roughly $56,000 to $58,000 before destination, depending on engine and options. Laredo colors follow the Willys palette, and the brown leather interior is the signature feature.
2027 Jeep Wrangler Sarge
The Sarge is a military-heritage edition based on the Willys or Rubicon. It’s offered as a two-door or four-door. It has a contrasting ’41-painted hardtop, a 1941-style star hood decal, bronze tow hooks, and a Cattle Tan and Drab Green interior. It’s one of the most eye-catching editions of the year. The Sarge Edition is also offered on the Gladiator.
2027 Jeep Wrangler Smoky Mountain
The Smoky Mountain edition debuted at the Smoky Mountain Invasion in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. It’s based on the four-door Willys and costs just $80 more than a comparably equipped Willys, which makes it one of the best-value editions. It gets black 17-inch wheels, a gloss black grille, Smoky Mountain hood decals, a body-color hardtop and fender flares, cloth seats with embossed parachute graphics and Terracotta stitching, heated seats, a heated steering wheel and dual-zone climate. You can get it with the 2.0L turbo or the 3.6L V6, both with the automatic.
2027 Jeep Wrangler JL-2A
The JL-2A was revealed on September 12, 2026, and it’s the 11th Twelve 4 Twelve edition. It’s built on the Rubicon, as a two-door or four-door, and costs $4,995 as a package. Jeep says that’s only $115 more than a similarly equipped Rubicon.
JL-2A specs and features:
- 17-inch retro wheels in Joose orange
- 33-inch BFGoodrich KO2 all-terrain tires
- Orange tow hooks and gray grille accents
- Body-color fenders and a matching three-piece hardtop
- Heritage Tan Nappa leather with Bison Brown trim and orange stitching
- Willys-Overland shifter medallion
- Remote start, universal garage door opener and front TrailCam with washer
- Full Rubicon hardware: Dana 44 axles, front and rear lockers, 4:1 transfer case
JL-2A colors: Gobi, ’41, Bright White, Sting Gray, Ghost and Joose. Orders open in October 2026, and deliveries should start late in 2026.
Other 2027 Wrangler special editions
Jeep’s Twelve 4 Twelve program means there’s a new limited edition almost every month in 2026. Most are appearance packages built on the Willys, Sahara or Rubicon, with unique colors, graphics and interiors. The 12th edition was due to be revealed in mid-October 2026. If you see an unfamiliar “special edition 2027” Wrangler on a dealer lot, it’s probably one of these.
2027 Jeep Wrangler engine options
| Engine | Power | Torque | Transmission |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2.0L turbo four | 270 hp | 295 lb-ft | 8-speed automatic |
| 3.6L Pentastar V6 | 285 hp | 260 lb-ft | 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic |
| 6.4L HEMI V8 (392) | 470 hp | 470 lb-ft | 8-speed automatic |
2027 Jeep Wrangler 4xe and hybrid
There’s no 2027 Wrangler 4xe. Stellantis confirmed that its plug-in hybrid program is finished in North America, which ended the 4xe after the 2025 model year. Jeep is now moving toward regular hybrids and range-extended EVs instead. A future hybrid Wrangler is possible, but nothing is confirmed for 2027.
2027 Jeep Wrangler 392 and V8
The V8 stays. The 6.4L HEMI V8 makes 470 hp and 470 lb-ft and comes in two versions:
- Willys 392: about $69,995 before destination, a cheaper way into a V8 Wrangler
- Moab 392: about $79,995 before destination, the most expensive Wrangler
Both use the 8-speed automatic and Jeep’s Selec-Trac full-time 4×4 system.
2027 Jeep Wrangler manual transmission
Yes, the manual lives on. The six-speed manual is available with the 3.6L V6 on trims like the Sport, Sport S, Willys and Rubicon. The 2.0L turbo and 392 V8 are automatic only. The Wrangler is one of the few new SUVs you can still buy with three pedals.
2027 Jeep Wrangler Hurricane engine
The Wrangler doesn’t use the Hurricane inline-six for 2027. That twin-turbo 3.0L engine is used in the Grand Wagoneer and Ram 1500. A Hurricane Wrangler has been rumored for years, but Jeep hasn’t announced one.
2027 Jeep Wrangler price and trims
Estimated 2027 Wrangler four-door prices (before the $1,995 destination charge):
| Trim | Price | Standard engine |
|---|---|---|
| Sport | $39,640 | 3.6L V6 |
| Sport S | $42,040 | 3.6L V6 |
| California Edition | $44,635 | 3.6L V6 |
| Willys | $46,235 | 3.6L V6 |
| Rubicon | $51,135 | 3.6L V6 |
| Sahara | $51,410 | 2.0L turbo |
| Rewind | $52,535 | 3.6L V6 |
| Smoky Mountain | $52,700 | 2.0L turbo |
| Rubicon X | $61,230 | 3.6L V6 |
| Willys 392 | $69,995 | 6.4L V8 |
| Moab 392 | $79,995 | 6.4L V8 |
Jeep hasn’t published every 2027 price yet, so these are based on dealer and order-guide data. Two-door models usually cost about $3,000 to $4,000 less than the same four-door trim.
2027 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon
The Rubicon is still the off-road king. It has Dana 44 axles, front and rear electronic lockers, a disconnecting front sway bar, a 4:1 low-range transfer case and 33-inch mud-terrain tires. The 2027 Rubicon starts around $51,135. The Rubicon X (about $61,230) adds leather seats, Alpine premium audio, a steel front bumper and more standard features.
2027 Jeep Wrangler Sahara
The Sahara is the comfort-focused trim, with body-color flares, nicer seats and more convenience features. It’s the best choice if you drive mostly on pavement. It starts around $51,410 with the 2.0L turbo, and the Sahara Unlimited (four-door) is the most common version.
2027 Jeep Wrangler Willys
The Willys is the sweet spot for many buyers. It adds a locking rear differential, rock rails and mud-terrain tires to the Sport S for a reasonable price. Several 2027 special editions (Laredo, Smoky Mountain, Sarge) use the Willys as a base.
2027 Jeep Wrangler Sport and Sport S
The Sport is the base model, with cloth seats, steel or basic alloy wheels and the 3.6L V6 with a manual. The Sport S adds alloy wheels, power windows and locks, and more convenience features. These are the cheapest ways into a 2027 Wrangler.
2027 Jeep Wrangler Rewind
The Rewind is a retro-themed four-door with heritage graphics and an automatic transmission. It’s priced around $52,535.
2027 Jeep Wrangler Scrambler
There’s no Wrangler Scrambler. The Scrambler name was used on the old CJ-8 pickup in the 1980s. Today, the Wrangler-based pickup is the Gladiator. Read our 2027 Jeep Gladiator guide for details.
2027 Jeep Wrangler 2-door vs 4-door
Both body styles continue for 2027. The two-door is shorter, lighter and better on tight trails. The four-door (Unlimited) has a real back seat and more cargo space, and it’s by far the more popular choice. Most special editions are offered as four-doors, but the JL-2A and Sarge are also offered as two-doors.
2027 Jeep Wrangler colors
Expected 2027 Wrangler colors include:
- Bright White
- Black
- Granite Crystal Metallic
- Sting Gray
- Hydro Blue Pearl
- Firecracker Red
- Anvil
- ’41 (military green)
- Gobi (tan)
- Joose (orange)
- Ghost (light gray)
Jeep often adds limited-run colors during the year, and some colors are only offered on certain editions. The final color list and pictures are in Jeep’s online configurator.
2027 Jeep Wrangler Hydro Blue
Hydro Blue Pearl is one of the most popular Wrangler colors. It’s a bright, deep blue that looks great on the Rubicon and Sahara. It’s expected to remain available for 2027.
2027 Jeep Wrangler interior
The interior carries over from the 2024 refresh. Every Wrangler gets a 12.3-inch touchscreen with Uconnect 5, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Higher trims add leather, heated seats, a heated steering wheel and a premium Alpine audio system. Special editions bring unique interiors: brown Nappa leather on the Laredo and JL-2A, green and tan on the Sarge, and parachute-pattern cloth on the Smoky Mountain.
The cabin is still noisy at highway speed, and the back seat is tight in the two-door. That’s part of the Wrangler character.
2027 Jeep Wrangler release date
The 2027 Wrangler is on sale now. Most trims have been arriving at dealers since mid-2026, and new special editions keep coming every month. The JL-2A opens for orders in October 2026, with deliveries late in the year.
2027 Jeep Wrangler build and price
You can build and price a 2027 Wrangler on Jeep’s website. Special editions sometimes appear in the configurator a few weeks after they’re revealed, so your dealer may be able to order one before it shows up online.
2027 Jeep Wrangler for sale, trade-in and value
2027 Wranglers are for sale at Jeep dealers now. Jeep dealers often discount Wranglers, so it’s worth shopping around. Wranglers hold their value very well, so trading in a 2027 Wrangler later should still bring a strong price.
2027 Jeep Wrangler vs Ford Bronco
The Bronco is the Wrangler’s main rival. The Bronco has independent front suspension and a smoother ride, while the Wrangler has solid axles and a removable-door heritage that serious off-roaders love. The Bronco’s Raptor competes with the Wrangler 392. Read our 2027 Ford Bronco guide to compare.
Insurance costs
Wranglers can be pricey to insure because of their theft rate and repair costs. Expect roughly $1,800 to $2,600 a year for full coverage, with 392 models costing more. Get a quick figure with our car insurance estimator.
